At High Rise it is always our aim to be
inclusive and
accessible at all times for our guest but we know that sometimes just a few small adjustments can make all the difference for someone with additional needs.
High Rise offers autism friendly activities EVERY Sunday morning at 10am. These are perfect for children and adults with autism or those who would prefer to visit the centre during a quieter time.
Additional autism sessions during summer – 10am on the following dates (in addition to Sunday sessions)
- Thursday 4th July
- Thursday 18th July
- Thursday 1st August
We offer both autism friendly Clip ‘n Climb and soft play during this time – you can find out more about how these work below. We always recommend pre-booking for these sessions.
Whats different during the autism tailored sessions?
- Smaller sessions, fewer people in the climbing arena
- No music playing in the centre
- Shorter, autism friendly safety briefing
- Soft play age increased to 12 years old
As always, our instructors are available to provide support and encouragement throughout the sessions.
Clip ‘n Climb is suitable for those aged 4+, including autistic adults and parents/carers can also participate in the activity if they like, or can join them in the climbing arena to provide support without climbing themselves.
High Rise staff have had specialist training from Autism NI on how they can best support guests using the centre as part of our work towards achieving the prestigious Autism Impact Award.
There is a Changing Places toilet facility available within High Rise.
Should you require, we have noise cancelling headphones available at reception to borrow or you are welcome to bring your own.
Should you require any additional support during your visit please do not hesitate to let a member of staff know.
*Please note that the Leap of Faith is not available during these sessions.
