High Rise has been developed and funded by Lisburn-based Social Enterprise and charity Employers For Childcare. After many years of planning, including extensive research with the parents and children who the centre has been created for, High Rise first opened in 2019, and having been closed during Covid-19, reopened in July 2022.
The feedback from the thousands of guests who have visited High Rise has been phenomenal and we are very proud to have created a fun place for families to enjoy time together and, in particular, to provide a welcoming and positive environment for our autistic guests and those with additional needs.
The installation of the sensory rooms in High Rise was funded by The National Lottery Community Fund. This has been made possible thanks to National Lottery players. On behalf of those who will benefit from these facilities, we are very grateful for their support.
Thank you also to Leckey, a local Lisburn based company, that designs and manufactures equipment for children who have a disability who have loaned specially adapted chairs for use in the Sensory Rooms at High Rise. These are designed to assist children with low muscle control to sit up and enjoy the space.
We are also grateful for support through Start Here, an employment and skill initiative funded by the Rank Foundation.
During the pandemic, we were grateful to access Covid-19 related support, including from the Department for Communities and Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council.
We would love to hear from any organisations interested in supporting the work of High Rise. Please email contact@highriseni.org and we would be delighted to arrange a conversation with you to discuss how we can work together.
