Christmas is just around the corner, and there’s no better way to kick off the festivities than with a magical visit to Santa.
High Rise family adventure centre in Lisburn will ‘go quiet’ for Santa’s arrival on Wednesday 13 December, when the centre will host autism friendly Clip ‘n Climb and soft play sessions, allowing guests with sensory processing challenges and special educational needs to have a magical experience with their families meeting Santa in a more relaxed setting
Similar to the monthly autism friendly activity sessions which take place on a Sunday morning, these ‘quiet’ sessions will have reduced numbers and no music so will be suited to autistic / SEN guests and their families.
Guests will have time to enjoy their activity (choice of either Clip ‘n Climb or soft play), supported by our staff who have been trained in autism awareness. Guests will then have the opportunity for a family visit to Santa in our calming sensory room which has been transformed into Santa’s grotto.
High Rise has attained the prestigious Autism NI Impact Award, in recognition of the additional support we provide for our autistic guests and while it is always our aim to be inclusive and accessible at all times for our guests, we know that sometimes just a few small adjustments can make all the difference for someone with additional needs.
Here’s what one family told us about the previous autism friendly Christmas event at High Rise:
“Attended sensory Santa last night and thought it was absolutely brilliant. Very calm, relaxed atmosphere. Kids had a great time. Staff were friendly, helpful and nothing was any trouble at all…Will definitely be back again.”
“We attended the sensory Santa night and were very impressed by the kindness and helpfulness of all the staff. The facilities are excellent and everything is spotlessly clean.”
Tickets for the Clip ‘n Climb session are £18.50 for children (including a gift from Santa) or £13.50 for adults (no gift) and soft play tickets are £10 (including gift). Numbers are limited so early booking is advised.
