How to book the sensory rooms at High Rise Lisburn

Published: 28 June 2024

High Rise Lisburn has been designed to be an inclusive and accessible centre that all families, whatever their needs, can enjoy together.

High Rise Lisburn features two interactive sensory rooms, located on the first floor (lift available).

High Rise sensory rooms are fully equipped with state of the art equipment designed to stimulate or relax guests.

Sensory Room 1

Our larger sensory room, Sensory Room 1 is stunning sensory space. It features a large bubble tube and projector along with a vibrating plate, interactive wall panels and messy floor tiles. This multi-sensory room offers a stimulatory environment that can be adapted to the needs of our guests – whether that’s sensory play, to encourage sensory development, stimulating the five senses or just relaxation.

Sensory Room 1 is available to book for 45 minute sessions for individuals or for groups of up to 6.

A session in Sensory Room 1 costs £5 for the primary guest – each booking must include at least one parent/carer (£1 charge for each parent/carer).

Eg a parent/carer bringing two children would pay £11 for their session, or a session for two parents and one child would cost £7.

The room can accommodate a maximum of six guests so if you have a smaller group (fewer than six) you may be joined by others during your session.

Sensory Room 2

The smaller sensory room, Sensory Room 2 has a soothing ceiling sparkle cloud, mood lighting, fibre optic strands and a range of sensory toys. Sensory Room 2 is a more intimate sensory space and can accommodate up to three guests in a single group, such as a family, and is particularly suitable for relaxation, quiet and chilling out.

Sensory Room 2 is available to book for 45 minute sessions for up to 3 people for just £6.

Who are the High Rise sensory rooms for?

The sensory rooms at High Rise provide a welcoming space for everyone, whatever their age, needs or ability. They have been specially designed to support our guests with additional needs, but may be beneficial to:

  • Anyone with a sensory processing disorder
  • Children on the autistic spectrum
  • Adults with additional needs or learning disabilities
  • Babies and their parents or carers
  • Those with brain injuries or recovering from accidents.

Sensory support

First time using the sensory rooms? Our wonderful sensory assistant can support you with guidance on using the equipment in the sensory room, including the bubble tube, vibrating bed and sensory lights.

The sensory rooms are available to book Thursday-Sunday for anyone who wishes to use them – opening times available here.

Guests are strongly advised to pre-book to avoid disappointment. Please note that parents and carers always remain responsible for the child(ren) or adult(s) they are supporting.

For guests who may struggle with the noise levels within the centre, we have ear defenders available to borrow (subject to availability).
