Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to book in advance?

We highly recommend guests to pre-book in advance for all activities in High Rise, to avoid disappointment. Weekends and school holidays especially tend to be fully booked in advance and walks-ins cannot be accommodated if we are fully booked.

Is my booking refundable?

All activities must be paid in full at the time of booking. All bookings are non-refundable.

Can I change the date or time of my booking?

No rescheduling of bookings is permitted within 14 days of the date of the activity.

What are your opening times?

Opening times for the different activities vary. Please check the Times and Prices page of our website for the up to date opening times.

How much are the activities in High Rise?

Activity prices vary. Please check the Times and Prices page of our website for the up to date pricing.

I have booked a party and need to make a change to the number of guests attending – how do I do that?

No refunds will be given for a reduction in numbers for any reason. Party bookings cannot be rescheduled.  Unused credit from pre-paid parties cannot be transferred and used towards additional activities or purchases on the day.

If the number of guests increases after booking, we may not be able to accommodate this, especially for Clip ‘n Climb where the number of climbers per session is strictly limited. If you do have an increase in numbers, please let us know as soon as possible, by emailing contact@highriseni.org and we will do our best to accommodate this, but sessions do fill up in advance with other guests and we cannot exceed our maximum number of participants.

As a registered charity, we have to strictly apply these terms to safeguard our revenue which funds a variety of social impact projects.

Do I need to arrive before the time I have booked for?

For Clip ‘n Climb, it is your responsibility to ensure you arrive in time for your briefing, which will be at the time you have booked for. Safety briefings start promptly, and late arrivals will not be allowed to join. You may be able to join the next briefing, but your climbing time will be reduced to 30 minutes.

For parties, the party organiser should arrive 10 minutes before your party time to check-in and receive your wristbands.  Everyone else should arrive in time for the start of your session/briefing.

What age is Clip ‘n Climb at High Rise for?

The minimum age to take part in Clip ‘n Climb is 4 years and the minimum weight is 1.5 stones / 10kg – this is to allow the auto-belay system to function safely.  The maximum weight limit is 22 stones /150kg and there is no maximum age limit, as long as the participant is in good health.

Minimum height for Vertical Drop Slide and Leap of Faith is 4ft/120cm.

What age is soft play at High Rise for?

Soft play at High Rise is recommended for children age 3-8 years. On Thursday and Friday mornings, during term-time, we have sessions for under 3s, but at all other times, the recommended age for soft play guests is 3-8 years as we no longer have separate baby and toddler play areas.

Does an adult have to book to accompany their child in Clip ‘n Climb?

All those under the age of 14 need to be accompanied to the pre-climbing safety briefing by a parent/responsible adult aged 18+. No adults will be permitted to enter the Clip ‘n Climb arena unless they have booked to climb and attended the full pre-climbing safety briefing (or need to accompany a child with support needs, in which case belongings must be stored securely in a locker and a hi-vis jacket will be provided – attending the full pre-climbing safety briefing is also required in these circumstances).

Adults are, of course, welcome to book to join their children in the Clip ‘n Climb arena – it’s a fun activity for all the family to enjoy together, but they don’t have to. Adults not participating can spectate from our downstairs café or our upstairs viewing gallery.

My child is nervous about climbing, can I accompany them into the Clip ‘n Climb arena?

No adults will be permitted to enter the Clip ‘n Climb arena unless they have booked to climb and attended the full pre-climbing safety briefing. Our team of trained instructors do a brilliant job of supporting and encouraging climbers, especially those who are less confident. If your child has additional needs and requires your support to take part in the activity please speak to the team member delivering the safety briefing and they will provide you with a hi-vis jacket to wear and talk to you about the rules for accompanying adults in the climbing arena.

I have no previous climbing experience, is Clip ‘n Climb for me?

Clip ‘n Climb is designed to be fun for EVERYONE regardless of ability! The difficulty of the climbing walls and challenges at Clip ‘n Climb Lisburn vary so there’s something for everyone to have a go on, from beginners to experts. Our fun and friendly staff team will also be there to assist those less confident climbers.

Can I bring a large group to High Rise?

We love welcoming groups of all ages to High Rise. For group enquiries (more than 15 guests) please complete the enquiry form on our website, and one of our friendly team will be in touch to discuss your enquiry.

Can I get food and drinks in High Rise?

Yes, the High Rise café serves a wide range of food and drinks, from breakfasts to lunches and even a range of burgers and homemade pizzas for a tasty dinner. There’s also plenty of snacks to choose from including our treat bags which are popular with our youngest guests (containing a Fruit Shoot, crisps, sweets and Freddo bar).

Can I bring food or snacks into High Rise?

High Rise operates a strict ‘no picnic’ policy – guests are not permitted to bring any drinks or any food into the centre. The only exception is for guests who have booked a party package who may bring in a birthday cake to enjoy after their activity in a designated party space. Only food and drinks purchased in our café may be consumed in the centre.

Please do not bring in any food, drinks, sweets, fruit etc as our staff will have to ask you to put it away and we don’t want to cause embarrassment.

This enables us to protect other guests with severe allergies, and it helps us as a Social Enterprise to generate revenue for our charity.

Can I bring in treats to share with children attending a party eg cupcakes, sweets, crisps or party bags?

Guests who have booked a party package may bring in a birthday cake to enjoy in their designated party space after their party food. No other food or drinks may be brought in to be consumed in High Rise.

What should I wear for Clip ‘n Climb?

We advise anyone doing Clip ‘n Climb to wear comfortable clothing (similar to what you might wear in the gym). For safety reasons, there are a number of clothing and footwear items that are not suitable:

  • Closed toe footwear is required – no sandals or crocs
  • No long heels or large hiking boots
  • Dresses, skirts or loose clothing are not permitted
  • Long hair should be tied back
  • All jewellery should be removed and pockets should be emptied of loose items such as mobile phones, keys, coins etc.

Refunds will not be offered if you are unable to climb due to inappropriate clothing, footwear etc. This list of unsuitable clothing, footwear etc is not exhaustive – please ask for more information before booking if you have any doubts or questions.

How should I dress my child for soft play?

It is recommended that children wear long sleeves and trousers while playing on the soft play.

All soft play guests will need to remove their shoes and store them in one of our shoe buckets before entering the soft play. These can be collected after your activity.  Socks must be worn at all times and are available to purchase from reception, if needed.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes, gift vouchers are available to purchase online here, or directly from the High Rise reception during centre opening hours.

How do your autism friendly sessions work?

As part of our commitment to inclusivity at High Rise we run regular autism friendly activity sessions – both Clip ‘n Climb and soft play. During these sessions we limit numbers and don’t play any music in the centre. There is a shorter safety briefing for Clip ‘n Climb and the age limit for soft play is increased to 12. Our friendly and supportive staff team, who have had training from Autism NI in supporting autistic guests are always on hand to provide support and encouragement.

Do you run any Clip ‘n Climb sessions for younger children?

In response to guest feedback, we have introduced a shorter Clip ‘n Climb session for primary school aged children called Young Climbers. Young Climbers sessions take place on Thursday afternoons during term-time and are shorter (1 hour in total: 15 minutes safety briefing and 45 minutes in the climbing arena) and are priced at just £7.

Young Climbers is a great way to introduce children to climbing as our fun and friendly staff team are there to provide support and encouragement. These sessions are for primary school age children only, parents do not need to book to climb along with their children.

Can I use my High Rise gift voucher to book activities online?

Yes, you can redeem your gift voucher against activities booked online. However, if the value of your activities is less than the value of your voucher, you cannot use it online as there is no option to give ‘change’. To make a booking in this situation email contact@highriseni.org with details of your booking and the voucher serial number.

I have an expired High Rise gift voucher, can I get it extended?

High Rise gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase and cannot be used after the expiry date. They are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash in part or full.

Expired gift vouchers will not be extended under any circumstances.

Are there lockers available?

Yes, lockers are available for your personal belongings and guests are not allowed to bring bags or coats into the Clip ‘n Climb arena. High Rise lockers are free to use (£1 coin to operate – returned at the end of your session). High Rise accepts no responsibility for any belongings lost or damaged on site.

Is there parking available at High Rise?

There is a free car park at the front of the building. Overflow parking is available (free of charge) on Altona Road. No guest parking is available to the rear of the building.

Is High Rise wheelchair accessible?

Yes, we are very proud that High Rise is a fully accessible centre. In designing High Rise, we were passionate that it should be a place where all families can come to enjoy quality time together, no matter what their ability or their needs.

We have wheelchair access throughout the centre, in addition we have invested in a Changing Places accessible toilet facility to ensure all guests have a dignified and hygienic changing facility.
