At High Rise Adventure Centre in Lisburn, we’re always striving to create the best experience for families and children and we have worked hard to ensure the centre is inclusive and accessible for all our guests, including those with additional needs and their families.
One of the ways we do this is our weekly Autism Friendly activity sessions, which we know that guests love. Based on valued guest feedback, we’ve made some small changes to how these sessions will run, which will come into place from Sunday 27 October.
Our popular Autism Friendly Clip ‘n Climb sessions will continue to run every Sunday morning, for autistic guests aged 4+ and their friends and family, at the new time of 9.45am. Many families told us that their children would prefer a slightly shorter session, so the pre-climbing safety briefing will last for 15 minutes and guests will have 45 minutes to enjoy the climbing walls and challenges in the Clip ‘n Climb arena, with the session finishing at 10.45am. These Clip ‘n Climb sessions will now be priced at £10 per person.
The slightly earlier time will ensure that any autistic/ASD guests have the opportunity to leave the centre before it starts to become busy with other guests arriving for activities and parties.
Everything else will remain the same – the same friendly and supportive instructors and staff team, we’ll keep the numbers small and we won’t play any music in the centre during these sessions. This is all an important part of our commitment to ensuring High Rise is an inclusive venue that all families can enjoy.
The Autism Friendly Soft Play sessions will also take place at the slightly earlier time of 9.45am and will last for one hour, finishing at 10.45am. These sessions are now priced at £4 per person.
These sessions are open to autistic guests aged up to age 12 and their siblings. We limit the numbers attending to ensure the soft play isn’t too busy and we don’t play any music during this time.
We would remind parents that staff do not monitor the soft play areas and parents are responsible for supervising their own children at all times.
To avoid disappointment, we ask that all guests pre-book their Autism Friendly activity sessions at High Rise here. Walk-ins will be limited based on availability, and we don’t want to disappoint any of our excited guests!
